
The Animal Care Wellness Center in San Bernardino had a unique visitor Wednesday morning when a 1-month-old Siberian tiger was brought through its doors.
The animal, named Havoc, went to the center to receive treatment for an allergy on the neck.
This was the first time the hospital and boarding facility provided aid to a tiger, receptionist Stacy Lighten said.
"We were excited when we got the call," she said.
Dr. Marc DiCarlo gave an injection to Havoc for inflammation. He then provided the tiger's owner, Chris Campbell of San Bernardino, with some gel to bring down the allergy.
"He's in good shape," Lighten said.
In the past, Campbell has brought his dogs to the wellness center. But this animal was no dog.
Already, the tiger weighs over 20 pounds. He could grow to more than 600 pounds.
Lighten said Dr. DiCarlo decided to see the tiger
after his research and believing it wouldn't be much different
than treating a smaller cat. Dr. Marc A. DiCarlo is a member in
good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association and
the California Veterinary Medical Association.
